What We Are Looking For

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Draughtsman is accountable for planning and preparing layout drawings from the engineer’s specifications or sketches for products, segments of products or components in engineering construction or other local or overseas projects based on an originator’s design request. Calculates and establishes principal dimensions where such dimensions are critical in relation to other components, strength or form

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:


  • Applying professional knowledge for developing of 3D CAD models and drawings using Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
  • Producing Interface, Layout, General Assembly, Detail, Tooling and Marking and Packaging Drawings.
  • Preparing conceptual designs, assists in trade-off studies on alternative designs as member of a team.
  • Prepare technical drawing data packs.
  • Reach identified development milestones as part of a team.
  • Provide technical support to other departments like production, procurement when required.
  • Liaise with possible suppliers of material, equipment and fabrication to ensure the design is manufactural, cost effective and that the specified equipment and material is available and of the required quality.
  • Ensure that the designs are environmental friendly and comply with the company policy and the iso14001 system.
  • Provide technical and analytical solutions for Process Development improvement initiatives and tooling
  • Assist with manufacture/ fabrication/ construction and final commissioning.


What Qualifications You Should Have

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Grade12, N5 (mechanical or equivalent).
  • 3 + years working experience within a mechanical drawing office.
  • Proficiency in using software such as AutoCAD and Solid works.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to create accurate and precise drawings.
  • Has been exposed to or have some mechanical workshop experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize task to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience of explosive manufacturing will be advantageous.
  • Ability to make decisions, take initiative and demonstrate good judgement
