The department of interior design is looking for a dynamic lecturer passionate about teaching and innovation in interior design. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of structural materials, spatial design, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to academic, creative, and interdisciplinary projects.
Key responsibilities:
Teaching and learning:
Design and deliver engaging modules aligned with SAQA and CHE standards; integrate practical skills, theory, and software instruction (AutoCAD/Revit); use innovative teaching tools and maintain digital learning environments.
Academic and Departmental Contribution:
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and curriculum development. Engage with both internal teams and external networks, including moderators and industry professionals.
Research and Development:
Drive research and consultancy initiatives; contribute to course innovation and knowledge development in the field.
Student Engagement:
Monitor performance, give feedback, and support student growth through mentorship and professional coaching.
Collaboration and Leadership: Work across departments, support academic planning, and take initiative in problem-solving and programme development.
Personal skills and attributes:
Strong interpersonal abilities.
Effective organisational and time management capabilities.
Excellent rapport-building and people-oriented approach.
Proven ability to perform well under pressure.
Skilled in handling crises and unexpected challenges.
Requirements:
Relevant Diploma/Degree from an accredited institution.
Industry experience in Interior Design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; Adobe Suite is a plus.
Previous teaching or training experience is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
