We’re recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and proactive Production Engineer to oversee and optimise manufacturing processes for fiberglass pole production. This is an exciting opportunity to drive continuous improvement, enhance production flow, maintain product quality, and reduce waste in a fast-paced operations environment, based at Head Office in Midrand.

Our client is a global leader in outdoor lighting solutions, delivering cost-effective lighting for safe, comfortable, and sustainable environments. The Production Engineer role forms part of the Operations Department, based at Head Office in Midrand.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes for fiberglass poles, ensuring efficient production flow and high-quality output. You’ll apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to minimise waste and improve productivity, while tracking production metrics, supporting maintenance activities, and collaborating cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Production / Chemical Engineering

Job Experience & Skills Required

• 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (composites/fiberglass advantageous)
• Strong experience in process design, implementation, and optimisation within production environments
• Practical exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, process control, and continuous improvement tools
• Ability to monitor and analyse production data to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in efficiency, output, and quality
• Experience with root-cause analysis, managing deviations, and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Knowledge of composite manufacturing fundamentals (e.g., resin systems, curing cycles, composite material behaviour)
• Proficiency in CAD software and production planning systems (ERP/MRP)
• Strong coordination skills with maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance and minimal downtime
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, plus excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor production staff
• Knowledge of quality/safety systems (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OSHA standards) is advantageous
