Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop architectural designs that align with technical, structural, and functional requirements.
- Prepare conceptual designs, layouts, and 3D visualizations using CAD and BIM software.
- Develop detailed architectural drawings, plans, elevations, and construction documents.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, municipal bylaws, health & safety standards, and industry codes.
- Work closely with structural, civil, and mechanical engineers to integrate architectural and engineering solutions.
- Participate in design review meetings, presenting ideas and responding to client/management feedback.
- Support tender and project proposal documentation by providing architectural inputs.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction progress, ensure design adherence, and resolve design-related queries.
- Assist with material selection, finishes, and design specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers during design and construction phases.
- Contribute to sustainable and cost-effective design solutions.
- Maintain project records, revisions, and drawing registers.
- Keep up to date with latest architectural trends, software tools, and building technologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Architectural Design (professional registration with SACAP advantageous).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in architectural design, preferably within an engineering, construction, or infrastructure environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, and rendering software (Lumion/3ds Max advantageous).
- Strong technical knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and municipal submission processes.
- Ability to read and integrate structural, civil, and mechanical engineering drawings.
- Excellent design presentation, visualization, and drafting skills.
- Good knowledge of project documentation, tender processes, and contract administration.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
