We are seeking a professional and results-driven Area Sales Manager – Retail to drive regional sales growth and strengthen customer relationships. The successful candidate will lead sales teams, manage key accounts, and ensure the consistent achievement of business targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and buying groups.
- Drive revenue growth through effective sales planning and new business development.
- Set, monitor, and achieve sales targets; conduct regular performance reviews.
- Manage promotions, pricing, and ensure effective in-store execution.
- Oversee stock management, credit processes, and financial controls.
- Lead, coach, and manage sales representatives and agents.
- Analyse sales performance and provide regular reports and insights.
- Ensure effective territory management and field operations.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and monitor competitor activity.
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly sales, including management of sample and free stock budgets
Minimum Requirements & Skills
- Matric (Grade 12), relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
- 3–4 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
- Proven experience managing sales teams and agents.
- Strong communication, sales, and negotiation skills.
- Computer literacy with solid financial and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally.
