Food Laboratory Analysis

The main purpose of this role is to aid the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory, as well as performing general tasks & inspections as per company Food Safety & Quality systems, whilst in-training for Learnership NQF Level 3: Food Laboratory Analysis.
- To perform basic analytical and quality testing on edible oils, mayonnaise and other byproducts which aid production and bottling in conforming to Food Safety regulations, such as wet chemistry and visual inspections
- To assist laboratory staff (analysts) by performing day-to-day routine checks as per GLP
- To assist the laboratory staff in administrative duties (filing and scanning, compiling data)
- To assist in sample reception and storage (logging samples, labeling and managing retainer samples)
- To assist with sample preparation as per External Analysis Schedule
- To assist with preparation of samples for scheduled analysis on laboratory instruments
- To perform truck inspections and other hygiene assessments
- To assist with cleaning of glassware and instrumentation
- To assist in stock-takes and handling of chemicals
- To assist with incoming raw material inspections
- To assist with data gathering and capturing for verification activity purposes
Health and Safety
- Participate in safety forums created by Soill for example safety meetings and safety talks
- Report all safety incidents to the manager or if unavailable, to the relevant Health and Safety Officer
- Attend safety education and refresher programmes
- Comply with safety policies and procedures at Soill
- Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
Requirements
- Successful completion of Grade 12 (Matric) or an NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification
- Currently unemployed and not enrolled in any other learnership
- Willing to commit to the full duration of the programme
- Should have an interest in the sciences (having studied Biology or Physics is not a requirement but will be beneficial)
