Prompt Testing Assistant
Gulf Associates
Remote
We are looking for an Editorial Quality Assurance Specialist to refine the internal briefing documents and research products we prepare for our clients in the Gulf. This is a part-time contract role open to applicants who are currently based in South Africa. Working with our remote team, you will check the accuracy and clarity of draft materials to ensure they meet the professional standards required by regional investors and family groups.
About Gulf Associates
Gulf Associates is a commercial advisory firm focusing on the decisions that shape the Gulf region. We advise international investors, family groups, and sovereign entities on market entry, regional expansion, and the complex operating realities that follow capital commitments across the GCC. While our focus is regional, our firm operates as a fully remote team, staying close to the commercial data and counterparty realities rather than physical office requirements.
We avoid the standard consulting playbook of long reports and generic methodologies. Instead, we provide direct commercial judgment. Our work centers on reading the room, understanding how regional markets actually clear, and helping clients decide when to commit or walk away. We maintain a deliberately small portfolio so that our seniors stay involved in the work from start to finish. We look for individuals who prefer the practical weight of a deal to the abstraction of traditional consulting. Our culture favors clarity and the ability to take a position even when the evidence is messy.
What you will do
- Review AI-assisted drafts and internal briefing documents to ensure they align with original source materials.
- Coordinate with the senior consultant on each engagement to verify factual consistency across regional market notes.
- Check specific claims regarding commercial structures and joint ventures against primary interview notes and data sets.
- Identify unsupported, unclear, or inaccurate statements in draft reports before they are moved to the partner review stage.
- Follow detailed review instructions to maintain a consistent professional tone across different document versions.
- Document recurring issues in our shared document workspace to help improve the standard of our drafting pipeline.
- Escalate unclear data points or contradictory evidence found during the weekly research note QA pass.
- Maintain strict consistency across repeated review work using our internal style guide and project tracker.
What we are looking for
- A university degree or equivalent professional background in business, communications, or a similar field.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in proofreading, editorial QA, or business documentation within a professional services context.
- A high standard of written English with the ability to spot subtle logical inconsistencies in complex commercial drafts.
- A resident of South Africa.
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to checking claims against primary source texts.
- Familiarity with commercial or financial terminology and the ability to distinguish between verified market data and speculation.
Helpful background
- Previous experience supporting research or consulting teams in a remote environment.
- General interest in the business news and economic developments within the GCC region.
- Experience using collaborative document tools and following structured review checklists.
- A background in verifying research summaries or advisory briefs for factual accuracy.
What the role offers
- A 100% remote, part-time contract engagement that fits alongside other professional commitments.
- A flat organizational structure where your observations on document quality are directly reviewed by senior partners.
- Exposure to the practical commercial considerations of market entry and regional expansion in the Gulf.
- A clear, structured internal workflow that focuses on high-quality documentation rather than volume.
How we work
Gulf Associates values the ability to find the real answer over the production of a lengthy report. As a remote firm, we rely on asynchronous coordination and absolute clarity in our internal documentation. We expect our specialists to be direct about findings, highlighting areas where a draft does not match the source evidence. This role is a project-based contract position that supports our internal quality assurance workflows, ensuring that every document reflects the commercial reality of the markets we cover.
