Requirements
- A relevant three-year tertiary qualification, preferred qualification
is a BTech Water Care (Water Science and Technology) or
Civil/Chemical engineering 4-year qualification.
- Classification/eligibility to be classified as a Class vi Process
Controller in terms of Regulation 3630 of 30 June 2023 in terms
of the Water Act, 1956 (Act 54 of 1956).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in managing Class A WWTW or
regional Works.
- Considerable management experience at a senior level in the
Technical / Engineering fields and thorough knowledge of
wastewater treatment processes and sludge management.
- Must be physically fit and abled body, have night vision, able to
walk around a WWTW (of several hectares) and be able to climb
stairs up to 18 metres high.
- A valid Code B/EB drivers’ licence.
Key Performance Areas
- Management functions include identifying and defining the
immediate, short- and long-term objectives /plans associated
within Wastewater.
- Manage productivity, performance and personnel management
to direct and control outcomes on the Wastewater Treatment
Plant.
- Financial control including the preparation of capital and
operating estimates and controlling of the operating expenditure
against the approved budget.
- Manages the formulation of specific contracts and tender
documents and control contractual obligations.
- Directs and control the professional, technical and operational
outcomes of the WWTP/s.
- Disseminates functional and operational information on the
immediate, short-and long-term objectives and current
developments, problems and constraints.
- Drawing up correspondence of a more complex and involved
nature.
