Job Advert Summary
To control the chemical dosing as per plant standard procedure ensuring the continuous supply of chemicals to all systems, thus maintaining water quality with specifications.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) / NQF Level 4 / N3 certificate in Water and Waste Water Treatment
- National Diploma in Water Care or equivalent will serve as an advantage
- Class IV Process Controller Classification
- 2 years’ experience in water purification
- Valid drivers license and the ability to pass RW K53 test
Primary Duties
- Control of raw flow into system.
- Lime slacking, putting slackers into operation as per operating procedure
- Lime dosing
- Silica dosing
- Ferric chloride - operate ferric plant when requested
- Management of plant by reporting of defective plant and equipment
- Changing over of standby pumps and dosing equipment weekly
- Ensure plant cleaning of systems and flocculation is done
- Adhere to occupational health and safety
- Operate alternative poly electrolyte dosing plant when requested
- Reporting of unsafe conditions which may result in injury or harm to Rand Water employees
- Report on chemical spills to WP Supervisor
- Receipt of chemical deliveries as per standard procedure
- SCADA operating
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of slacker, ferric chloride, polymer dosing plants and lime dosing
