SUMMARY

My client is an importer, wholesaler and distributor of European food products, supplying retailers, supermarkets, deli stores and related outlets across South Africa. The business specialises in imported German, Belgian and Dutch food products and services to a wide FMCG retail customer base.

POSITION INFO

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in FMCG external sales, strong relationship-building ability, and experience dealing with retail stores, supermarkets, independent retailers and related accounts.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing retail customers
• Identify and secure new business opportunities within the FMCG retail sector
• Conduct regular store visits and manage call cycles effectively
• Drive sales growth and achieve monthly sales targets
• Ensure strong product visibility, merchandising and shelf presence in stores
• Negotiate promotional opportunities and in-store activations
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends
• Follow up on orders, stock levels and customer requirements
• Provide regular sales feedback and reporting to management
• Maintain excellent customer service and brand representation at all times

Skills needed

• Proven experience calling on retail stores, supermarkets, deli stores or related accounts
• Strong sales and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal ability
• Self-motivated and target driven
• Good planning and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Valid driver’s licence
• Own reliable vehicle essential
• Own cellphone essential
• Sound knowledge of the Gauteng retail market advantageous

Preferred / nice to have skills and experience

• Experience within imported foods, speciality foods, beverages or related FMCG products advantageous
• Existing relationships within retail and independent store networks beneficial
