The Role: Labour Law Associate

The purpose of this role is to manage a broad range of contentious and advisory employment law matters. The successful candidate will contribute to the firm by independently managing files, representing clients in various dispute resolution forums, and providing high-quality legal advice on workplace relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of contentious and advisory employment law files independently, utilising approximately 2-5 years of post-admission or post-articles experience.
  • Represent clients and handle exposure in the CCMA, bargaining councils, Labour Court, and disciplinary matters.
  • Conduct disciplinary enquiries and chair or present evidence in arbitrations.
  • Direct and oversee Labour Court litigation processes from start to finish.
  • Draft employment-related agreements, policies, and legal pleadings.
  • Guide clients through retrenchment processes and restructuring procedures.
  • Provide general employment law advisory services and legal opinions to clients.

About You

  • Possess approximately 2-5 years of post-admission or post-articles experience.
  • Demonstrate solid, proven experience specifically within the field of labour and employment law.
  • Exhibit strong drafting and litigation skills.
  • Show clear ability to work independently and manage legal files responsibly.
  • Display good client engagement and communication skills.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and a high level of attention to detail.
