SUMMARY

A luxury hotel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead all aspects of the property's operations.

This role is suited to a mature hospitality professional with a proven track record of successfully managing large hotels with 60+ rooms. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, guest satisfaction, financial performance, and team development while maintaining the highest hospitality standards.

The ideal candidate will be seeking a long-term opportunity and must demonstrate career stability, strong leadership skills, and a hands-on management approach.

POSITION INFO

REQUIREMENT

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a General Manager within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment
  • Proven experience managing hotels with 60+ rooms essential
  • Strong operational experience across Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage departments
  • Proven track record of successful hotel management and operational leadership
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, stock control, and financial controls
  • Experience driving occupancy, guest satisfaction, and profitability
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving ability
  • Stable employment history with demonstrated longevity in previous roles
  • Professional, hands-on, and guest-focused approach
  • Own vehicle essential
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all hotel operations and departmental performance
  • Ensure exceptional guest experiences and service delivery standards
  • Manage Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Administration departments
  • Drive operational efficiency, profitability, and revenue growth
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost controls
  • Oversee stock control systems and financial compliance
  • Lead, mentor, and develop departmental managers and staff
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and hospitality standards
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement continuous improvements
  • Build a positive team culture focused on service excellence and accountability
  • Maintain the property's reputation and market position
