A family is looking for a QUALIFIED SENIOR AND FET PHASE TEACHER for their children to travel between Johannesburg and Cape Town
Area: Benoni, Johannesburg and Uniondale, Cape Town
Children's Ages: Grade 10 (18-year-old) Girl, Grade 9 (15-year-old) Boy, and 2 x Grade 8 (14-year-old) Girls
Child's Neurodivergence Snapshot: All learners have ADHD and can become easily distracted. They require structure, accountability, regular breaks, consistent encouragement, and support with organisation, focus, and task completion.
Support Style: Structured, patient, confident, and academically driven. The educator should be able to motivate learners, provide accountability, encourage independence, and create an organised learning environment while adapting to each learner's individual academic needs.

Live-in: Own cottage provided in Cape Town and own bedroom with shared bathroom in Johannesburg. Water included educator responsible for electricity usage. Meals included.
Duties: The role involves supporting the family's homeschooling tutor and providing one-on-one and small-group academic guidance within a structured home-school and blended-learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting with schedules, assignments, projects, exam preparation, academic planning, organisation, educational oversight, and personalised learner support. The Grade 10 learner has previously repeated grades due to behavioural challenges, therefore the educator must be confident in providing patient, consistent guidance, motivation, structure, encouragement, and accountability. The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to support learners with executive functioning challenges associated with ADHD.
Special Requirements: The ideal candidate should hold a Senior and/or FET Phase teaching qualification and have previous teaching, tutoring, or educational support experience. The candidate should be organised, professional, reliable, warm but firm, and capable of managing multiple learners with varying academic needs. Strong English communication skills, a long-term mindset, and the ability to work independently are essential. A valid driver's licence and own vehicle are preferred; however, candidates with a valid licence who are willing to travel will also be considered. The candidate must be willing to travel regularly between Johannesburg and Cape Town / Western Cape.
Curriculum: Cambridge Curriculum (previous Cambridge experience advantageous but not essential, as the family will provide and fund Cambridge training upon commencement).
Start Date and Contract Term: ASAP – Permanent
Salary: R18 000pm (Gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95)
**** Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
****Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
****Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
