An opportunity for an experienced

AUTO ELECTRICIAN & DIAGNOSTIC TECHNICIAN is required for permanent employment based in Newcastle.

  • This position is ideally suited to a technically strong candidate who enjoys complex fault-finding, electronic diagnostics, vehicle electrical systems, and delivering quality workmanship within a professional workshop environment.
  • The successful candidate will work across a wide range of passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and specialised fleet vehicles while supporting a fast-paced operation focused on quality repairs and customer satisfaction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform advanced electrical fault-finding and diagnostics on modern vehicle systems.
  • Diagnose and repair wiring faults, control modules, sensors, relays and electronic components.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing using OEM and aftermarket diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair and maintain vehicle charging, starting and electrical distribution systems.
  • Diagnose CAN Bus, communication network and electronic control system faults.
  • Install, repair and maintain vehicle accessories and auxiliary systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and electrical system testing.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs and servicing when operationally required.
  • Test vehicles after repairs to ensure faults have been resolved correctly.
  • Complete job cards, inspection reports and workshop documentation accurately.
  • Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with workshop procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining high workshop productivity and same-day turnaround targets where possible.
  • Work closely with workshop management and technical staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and professional working environment.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Qualified Trade Tested : Auto Electrician
  • Min. 3-5 years practical auto electrical diagnostic experience.
  • Experience working on multiple passenger and light commercial vehicle brands.
  • Strong understanding of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
  • Proven diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
  • Experience with diagnostic scanners and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of engine management systems, ABS, airbag systems and vehicle electronics.
  • Diesel and Petrol Mechanical experience adv.
  • Experience working on emergency service vehicles, ambulances or specialised fleet vehicles adv.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Computer literate and comfortable working with diagnostic software.
  • Valid Code 08 Driver''s Licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Stable employment history preferred.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Traceable and contactable references.
  • Local residency preferred or willingness to relocate.
