3+ years BI Development Experience required!

On behalf of our client we are recruiting for an enthusiastic BI Developer to join an dynamic Development team. You will assist with all functions of designing, developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions. Crafting and executing queries upon request for data and presenting information through reports and visualizations.

The Position: To ensure success as an BI Developer you should have a good working knowledge of creating and managing BI and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge. In this role you should have a background in data and business analysis. You should be analytical and an excellent communicator. If you also have a business acumen and problem-solving aptitude, we would like to meet you. Ultimately, you will enhance the business intelligence system to help clients make better decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
• Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g. MicroStrategy)
• Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
• Develop and update technical documentation

Requirements

• Must be South African with a valid South African ID
• Completed Matric with 60% or more achieved for Mathematics – this is an absolute must have
• Completed Degree (Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering or a relevant field) – this is an absolute must have
• Completed Honours Degree - highly beneficial
• Ability to apply logic, solve problems and work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
• Industry experience is preferred (Insurance or financial services)
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modelling) and data mining
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI)
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude

The Package: We’re looking for a tech-savvy professional curios about new technologies and aspiring to deliver technology that is essential to any business with an insurance function. The pay range on offer is R45 000.00 to R65 000.00 CtC Package Per Month, based on skills, tech stack and qualifications.
