Mechanical Design Engineer vacancy in Randburg. BEng or MEng/MSc (Mechanical Engineering) with 3-5 years of working experience in product design.

The company is designing and manufacturing assemblies of parts for the electrical aspects of EVs, Trucks, military vehicles, Mining vehicles, and the railway Industry. The engineer will be responsible for parts and assembly design of components such as Tooling, Plastics, sheet metal, and related die products design. Simulation and 3D designs.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Maraisburg/Johannesburg

Mechanical design engineer required to assist with the design, testing and manufacturing of parts for products used in the railway; Automotive, Mining vehicle and military Vehicle Industry. Design of tooling and components. Parts are designed, manufactured, and assembled locally. Some parts are manufactured in the USA.

Mechanical Design engineer required with solid skills in 3D and a basic understanding of materials/ material selection.

Qualifications and experience required

• BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering
• 3D design skills
• Skills in design for manufacturing and assembly
• Basic skills in fatigue, material interaction, and impact testing of mechanical components
• Collect, analyse, and interpret mechanical data to relevant standards

Responsibilities

• Interpret specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• 3D design
• Generating component and assembly drawings for prototyping
• Basic Engineering design analysis
• Design for manufacture
• Design for assembly
• Work with the manufacturing team to ensure that products that were designed are correctly manufactured (ensure correct usage of tools in injection moulding , die-casting, sheet metal for the various components or products that were designed and manufactured correctly)
• Modelling and design of components.
• Ensure component assembly and sub-assemblies are done correctly with designed products.
• Generating component and assembly drawings for prototyping.
