Job Advert Summary
The primary purpose of the Audit Senior role is to lead audit engagements from planning through to finalisation, ensuring compliance with relevant auditing standards and regulatory requirements. The Audit Senior is responsible for delivering high-quality audit work, supervising and developing junior staff, managing client relationships, and contributing to the overall success of the team. This role acts as a key link between audit management and the junior audit team.
Minimum Requirements
Professional Qualifications
- Must have CTA (BCom Accounting Honours/PGDA)
- BCom degree must be completed
- Completion of SAICA training contract (post-articles).
Skills & Experience
- At least 1 years’ post-articles experience.
- Solid understanding of ISA, IFRS, and Companies Act.
- Ability to supervise multiple audits effectively.
- Experience in performing audits across a range of industries, including SMEs and large corporates.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting packages and audit software (e.g., CaseWare, Excel, Pastel, Xero etc.).
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid time management, delegation, and prioritisation abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Audit Planning & Preparation
- Develop detailed audit plans and strategies in collaboration with audit managers.
- Coordinate planning meetings with clients and internal teams to align expectations and timelines.
- Plan resource allocation and assign tasks according to team capabilities scope.
Audit Execution & Review
- Oversee audit execution in accordance with applicable standards and methodologies.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned audit sections.
- Monitor audit progress, deadlines, and budgets.
- On-the-job coaching and review of junior staff.
Audit Finalisation & Reporting
- Review completed files to ensure quality, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Submit finalised documentation for managerial and partner review.
- Report on audit hours, team performance, and areas for improvement.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of junior staff.
- Lead the professional development of staff through on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Motivate the team to meet performance goals and deadlines while maintaining high work quality.
- Drive a culture of collaboration, integrity, and continuous learning.
- Promote technical excellence by sharing knowledge and encouraging skills development.
