Job Title: Specialist: Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Specialist: Accountant based in Bloemfontein to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. The Specialist: Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's financial records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and providing strategic guidance on financial matters.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability goals
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial regulations
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance metrics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
  • Participate in audits and other financial reviews
  • Hyperion Uploads and Reporting Annual Tax Pack.
  • Returns Monthly VAT GL Recon.
  • Review FSP Calculations and Returns Cash Book.
  • Management Loading Payments.
  • Cash Management Reporting All Reconciliations.
  • Ensure that the correct accounting policies and procedures are being follow at all times.
  • Manage the full capex process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Financial Services experience will be good but not essential.

Skills And Expertise

  • Ability to record financial transactions.
  • Ability to understand accounting fundamentals and principles.
  • Compiles reports.
  • Interrogates transactions.
  • Shows basic knowledge and understanding of accounting and tax concepts, financial statements, trial balance, financial record keeping process and books or accounts of the company.
