Position Summary

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing accurate estimates and tender documentation, administering contracts, and ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires strong contractual knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced private-sector environment.

POSITION INFO

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized South African university (Wits, University of Pretoria (TUKS), University of the Free State (UFS), University of Cape Town (UCT), or Nelson Mandela University (NMU)).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the private sector.
  • Strong contractual and practical quantity surveying knowledge, particularly JBCC contracts.
  • Proficient in WinQS and DimX software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Compile bills of quantities and tender documentation.
  • Evaluate and analyze tender submissions and provide recommendations.
  • Manage project cost control and financial reporting throughout project execution.
  • Measure and value work completed on site.
  • Prepare interim payment certificates and final accounts.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with JBCC and other applicable contractual frameworks.
  • Identify and manage project risks and cost variations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning exercises.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and provide commercial and contractual guidance.
  • Ensure projects remain within approved budgets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts for management and clients.
  • Assist in dispute resolution and contractual claims management where required.
