Purpose Of The Job
Our client is looking for a qualified and experienced Accountant to join the team. The Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and providing financial insights that support business performance and profitability. The role plays a key part in budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, and the management of dealership assets, stock, and operational expenditure.

Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports within prescribed deadlines
- Analyse dealership financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability
- Monitor income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and key financial indicators
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
- Prepare and submit financial reports to manufacturer and group head office requirements
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify variances
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management
Dealership Accounting Operations
- Oversee vehicle stock accounting and floorplan reconciliations
- Manage vehicle sales reconciliations and deal file audits
- Ensure accurate processing of new and used vehicle transactions
- Monitor parts, service, and vehicle department financial performance
- Reconcile manufacturer incentive claims, rebates, and bonus programmes
Cash Flow & Asset Management
- Manage dealership cash flow requirements and banking relationships
- Monitor debtors, creditors, and working capital performance
- Ensure proper control of dealership assets and inventory
- Oversee fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
- Prepare VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance procedures
- Coordinate internal and external audits
Payroll & Human Resources Support
- Review payroll reconciliations and commission calculations
- Assist with payroll-related financial reporting and provisions
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and reporting requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with dealership management to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Liaise with auditors, financial institutions, manufacturers, suppliers, and corporate finance teams
- Provide financial guidance and support to departmental managers
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field in an automotive environment
- Completed Articles (advantageous)
- Minimum 3–5 years' accounting experience within a motor dealership environment
- Experience with dealership management systems such as Kerridge, Automate, Autoline, Evolve, Drive drive standard preferably
- Strong knowledge of dealership financial operations, vehicle stock accounting, and manufacturer reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Motor Industry experience Essential!!
