SUMMARY

POSITION INFO

Drive continuous improvement in a high-volume manufacturing environment where operational excellence, efficiency, and innovation are central to success. This is an opportunity to influence plant performance, optimise production processes, and lead meaningful improvement initiatives across a dynamic converting operation.

Our client is seeking a Process Engineer to take ownership of process optimisation, continuous improvement, and operational performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing product quality, and supporting the implementation of best-practice manufacturing standards.

Working closely with production teams, technical specialists, and leadership, you will analyse process performance, develop improvement initiatives, oversee machine trials, support new product development, and ensure operational consistency across shifts. The role combines hands-on plant engagement with analytical and project-based responsibilities, making it ideal for a technically strong individual who enjoys solving complex operational challenges.

Our client is a well-established manufacturing organisation with a strong commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, quality, safety, and sustainable growth. The business offers an environment where technical expertise is valued and where process improvements directly contribute to business performance.

  • Monitor equipment performance and support maintenance optimisation.
  • Conduct process and equipment risk assessments.
  • Analyse operational data and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Support capital projects, machine rebuilds, and new product development initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning and installation of new equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.

What You Bring

  • BTech, BSc, National Diploma in Industrial Engineering, or qualification in Pulp and Paper Technology.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Process Engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of FMCG or converting plant environments.
  • Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability.
  • Sound understanding of SHERQ standards and legislation.
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • High level of computer literacy and systems understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive approach to work.

What Success Looks Like

  • Improved process efficiency and equipment utilisation.
  • Reduced waste, costs, and process variation.
  • Enhanced operational consistency across shifts.
  • Successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.
  • Improved product quality and compliance standards.
  • Strong collaboration between production, technical, and leadership teams.
  • Delivery of projects safely, on time, and within budget.
