Role Description

MBFi is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team in Delmas, Mpumalanga.

This full-time, on-site role will support day-to-day accounting and finance operations across the business, including collaboration with MBFi’s international branches and operations. The successful candidate will assist with transaction processing, reconciliations, financial recordkeeping, and reporting while gaining exposure to multinational business operations within the agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

The Junior Accountant will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with company procedures, and efficient financial administration across local and international operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and process financial transactions accurately and timeously
  • Process supplier invoices and prepare payments
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and general ledger accounts
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records, filing systems, and supporting documentation
  • Track company expenses and assist with expense reporting
  • Support preparation of management reports and financial schedules
  • Respond to finance-related queries from internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with finance teams across local and international branches
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with company policies and financial controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance and administrative processes

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Foundational accounting knowledge, including understanding of debits and credits, general ledger functions, and basic financial statements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including data entry, reconciliations, and basic formulas
  • Pivot table experience will be advantageous
  • Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional approach when working with internal stakeholders and international teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow established financial controls and processes
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with South African accounting practices, tax concepts, or payroll processes is beneficial
  • Exposure to multinational operations, foreign suppliers, or multi-currency transactions will be advantageous
  • Interest in agriculture, biotechnology, manufacturing, or international business operations
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic multinational company
