Chief Financial Officer

An entrepreneurial property business is seeking a commercially astute CFO to partner directly with the CEO and leadership team. This is a deal driven environment, not a traditional finance role. The business operates with a large network of brokers and dealmakers and requires a CFO who can operate in the flow of transactions, influence decisions in real time, and bring discipline to capital allocation without slowing momentum. The successful candidate will be responsible with the CEO for shaping how capital is deployed across a high-volume pipeline of opportunities. This role is best suited to a Chartered Accountant who is comfortable engaging with strong personalities and experienced dealmakers/brokers, brings confidence, presence, and clear commercial judgement.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the finance team, department and reporting
• Partner with the CEO on strategy, growth, and capital allocation
• Oversee cash flow, funding, and financial performance
• Ensure appropriate levels of governance, reporting, and control
• Lead financial assessment of property investments across acquisitions, developments, and disposals
• Build and interrogate financial models to evaluate returns, risks, and funding structures
• Influence deal outcomes by challenging assumptions and shaping decision making
• Engage with a large network (90+) of brokers and dealmakers
• Introduce consistency and structure into how deals are evaluated and approved

Desired Experience and Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (SA) / CA(SA) with 5+ years of progressive post article experience
• Financial modelling and analysis capabilities
• Comfortable engaging with strong personalities
• Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
• Has genuine commercial acumen
• Can influence outcomes, not just report on them
• Brings executive presence and can hold their own with seasoned dealmakers
• Property / Real Estate / Development/Construction or a deal-led, investment focused environment preferred

Package and Remuneration

R 1 500 000 – R 1 600 000 per annum + incentives
