Role Overview

ALENG Engineering Services (Pty) Ltd is seeking a motivated, customer-focused, and enthusiastic Junior Internal Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our engineering consulting and strategic procurement business. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in technical sales within the mining, industrial, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

The Junior Internal Sales Representative will play an important role in supporting sales activities by building and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and assisting with the preparation of quotations, order processing, and sales administration. Through a thorough understanding of customer requirements, the incumbent will provide responsive and professional support to both existing and prospective clients, ensuring a positive customer experience at every stage of the sales process.

Working closely with the sales, procurement, and project teams, the Junior Internal Sales Representative will assist in generating leads, following up on enquiries, maintaining customer records, and contributing to the achievement of sales targets. The role requires strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills, together with a proactive approach to identifying customer needs and presenting suitable solutions.

Work Activities and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers.
  • Identify and qualify new sales opportunities.
  • Generate leads through cold calling, e-mail campaigns, and other methods.
  • Follow up on leads and inquiries.
  • Handle enquiries from both internal and external customers, ensuring prompt resolution and maximum benefit to ALENG.
  • Achieve monthly sales targets and proactively contribute to sales growth initiatives.
  • Respond to customer sales enquiries promptly, preparing and submitting quotations within specified timelines.
  • Provide exceptional service to telephone and online/e-mail sales clients, addressing their needs with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Track and update customer information in the CRM database.
  • Monitor customer accounts and identify upsell opportunities.
  • Collaborate with outside the sales team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and services to answer customer questions.
  • Assist the sales team with sales administrative duties such as compiling quotations, processing customer orders, ensuring that payment terms are met, and organising and monitoring product deliveries.
  • Assist the sales team with arranging appointments with prospective customers for product demonstrations and presentation of the business services and products.
  • Assist the sales and projects teams in the tender process with administrative duties such as research, cost estimates, etc., as and when needed.
  • Manage financial reporting tasks, including processing quotes, creating invoices, and generating purchase orders.
  • Assist the sales team with enquiries and support their activities as needed.
  • Update internal price lists to ensure accuracy and alignment with company standards.
  • Always keep the customer database up to date.

Entry Requirements

  • Matic, + any additional training and qualification within sales responsibilities.
  • 1 - 3 years of proven internal sales experience in the engineering, mining, or agricultural field.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Fluent spoken and written English ~ French is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently and well in a team, and perform under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills.
