About the Role
BriefCo is expanding and we are seeking an experienced and highly organised Legal Operations Associate to join our legal team! The successful candidate will provide dedicated secretarial and administrative support while ensuring the smooth and efficient management of legal matters and client interactions. You'll join a collaborative team that values professionalism, mutual support, and an elite sense of humour!
Key Responsibilities
Legal Administration
- Draft, format, proofread, and amend legal correspondence, pleadings, agreements, and other legal documents
- Prepare court bundles, trial files, and briefing documents
- Maintain accurate physical and electronic filing systems
- Open, maintain, and close client files in accordance with firm procedures
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory filing requirements
- Diary Management
- Manage attorneys' diaries, appointments, consultations, and court dates
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of documents
Client Liaison
- Serve as a professional first point of contact for clients
- Handle telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client and firm information
- Provide regular updates to clients where instructed
Court and Legal Processes
- Prepare and lodge documents with relevant courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies
- Track court dates, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements
- Liaise with advocates, sheriffs, correspondents, and other legal professionals
General Office Administration
- Maintain office records and legal databases
- Assist with document management and archiving
- Perform general administrative duties to support the legal team
Minimum Requirements
· Familiarity with Court Online and CaseLines
· 2 - 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary within a law firm
· Strong understanding of legal terminology and court procedures
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
