SHE Principle Practitioner Environmental

We are seeking an experienced SHE Principal Practitioner Environmental to support the full calendar operation of the mine (FULCO) on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring environmental management objectives, compliance requirements, and sustainability targets are achieved through effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1.Delivery

  • Consistently deliver on all service level agreements while maintaining awareness of cost and budget requirements.
  • Provide quality, cost-effective environmental services and support within agreed timeframes.
  • Conduct environmental training and promote environmental awareness across the operation.

2.Leadership and Growth

  • Support and uphold the vision, values, and strategic goals of the organisation.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with peers, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Continuously improve technical, professional, and specialist knowledge and skills.

3.Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets technical and professional standards and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of legal, impact, and aspect registers.
  • Promote professional standards and provide recommendations on analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Adapt to changing business requirements and provide accurate data and solutions within required timeframes.
  • Supply, collate, and verify environmental data for Sustainable Development reporting.
  • Attend SHE and Environmental meetings and report on environmental performance.
  • Monitor and track the implementation of corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, and assessments.
  • Compile environmental assessment reports.
  • Conduct emergency water sampling when required.
  • Ensure statutory environmental compliance and effective management thereof.
  • Conduct compliance assessments against environmental authorisations and legal requirements.
  • Review environmental reports submitted by service providers, provide technical feedback, and manage service provider performance.

4.Continuous Improvement

  • Drive and support the implementation of new ideas, innovative thinking, and improved environmental practices across the business.

5.Customer and Relationship Management

  • Consistently meet customer and business requirements while building constructive relationships with managers, colleagues, clients, contractors, and service providers.
  • Maintain professional communication and conduct that fosters credibility, trust, and respect.
  • Participate in Systems and Compliance meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B Degree or B.Tech in Environmental Management or an equivalent qualification.
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the Environmental Management field.
  • Previous mining industry experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining SHE Integrated Management Systems.
  • Experience conducting environmental compliance assessments, audits, reporting, and risk management activities.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and authorisations.

Technical Knowledge and Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate knowledge and experience in:

  • Environmental Management and Environmental Compliance.
  • SHE Integrated Management Systems and Risk-Based Approaches.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • International management standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, Responsible Care, and ISO/PAS 55000.
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance principles.
  • SHE legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • SHE reporting, auditing, and non-conformance management processes.
  • Electronic SHE Management Systems and document management platforms.
  • Environmental data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Enterprise support systems such as SAP and document management systems.
