Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 is required
  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a feed mill or manufacturing management role.
  • Strong understanding of feed production processes, machinery, and quality control systems.
  • Experience managing teams within a production or agricultural environment.
  • Computer literacy and experience with production reporting systems (e.g. Sage & Microsoft Office).
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of feed formulations and nutritional requirements.
  • HACCP, ISO, or food safety management experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict production deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of InTeqnion Systems will be an advantage.
  • Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks and resources for optimal functionality.
  • Ability to give attention to detail with the ability to manage self and work towards targets.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all daily feed mill operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Ensure feed production targets are achieved while maintaining high quality standards and minimal downtime.
  • Monitor raw material usage, stock levels, and inventory control to prevent shortages or wastage.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and ensure all machinery and equipment are operating effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Supervise, train, and manage feed mill employees to maintain productivity and discipline.
  • Monitor feed formulations and production processes to ensure consistency and quality requirements are met.
  • Work closely with procurement, logistics, and production departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Prepare operational reports, production records, and performance analyses for management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise plant performance.
  • Ensure housekeeping and biosecurity standards are maintained throughout the facility.
