A well-established and reputable manufacturing company based in Maitland, Cape Town is seeking to appoint a highly driven and disciplined
Production Supervisor to lead shop floor performance within a high-volume production environment.
This role requires a technically strong, hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and can drive output, quality, cost control, and continuous improvement with authority and precision.

Qualification
- Diploma in Operations Management, Production Management, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (essential)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in high-volume manufacturing
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising production teams
- Proven experience managing production targets, labour, and workflow
Advantageous
- Technical or trade qualification
- Experience in press, plating, or automated manufacturing environments

Main Duties And Responsibilities
This role is responsible for delivering production results through strong shopfloor leadership and disciplined execution.
Production performance
- Execute the daily production plan and meet output targets
- Monitor line performance, remove bottlenecks, and drive recovery actions
- Balance labour and equipment to maximise throughput
- Record and report accurate production data
Quality compliance
- Ensure components are produced to specification first time
- Enforce QMS requirements and stop defects at source
- Investigate root causes and reduce rework and scrap
- Maintain correct identification and traceability
Equipment and maintenance
- Ensure operator care and basic maintenance are performed
- Report breakdowns and coordinate repairs to minimise downtime
- Support preventative maintenance and TPM activities
Team leadership
- Lead, supervise, and develop operators
- Set performance standards and manage attendance and discipline
- Ensure skills coverage and cross-training
Materials and systems control
- Maintain ERP accuracy and control material flow and WIP
- Ensure correct processing of scrap and inventory accuracy
Lean and continuous improvement
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards
- Use visual management and eliminate waste
- Drive daily improvements to productivity and cost
Daily operations
- Run shift start-up meetings and allocate resources
- Monitor output and troubleshoot issues on the floor
- Liaise with Quality, Maintenance, and Planning
- Report results and escalate risks early
Safety
- Enforce safe work practices and PPE compliance
- Act immediately on hazards and incidents
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability
This is a hands-on shopfloor leadership role focused on performance, quality, and team discipline.
