Account Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Account Manager to join a dynamic and fast-paced accounting practice in Sandton. The successful candidate will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, full regulatory compliance, and exceptional client service. You will also play a key leadership role in mentoring trainees and supporting the development of junior team members.

• Maintain accurate and compliant client accounting records in line with relevant accounting standards and legislation
• Manage, mentor, and oversee trainees/associates, including workflow planning, allocation, and review
• Prepare monthly management accounts, providing meaningful financial insights and commentary
• Compile annual financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting frameworks
• Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, provisional tax, and dividend tax returns
• Manage SARS correspondence, queries, audits, and dispute resolution processes
• Ensure ongoing compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, and internal quality requirements
• Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships while identifying growth opportunities within the portfolio
• Deliver all outputs within agreed budgets and deadlines
• Collaborate with auditors and tax consultants to provide integrated client solutions

• Qualified accountant (SAIPA / SAIBA / SAICA / CIMA or equivalent)
• 4–5+ years post-articles experience in a accounting environment
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of 15+ clients within an accounting practice
• Previous experience supervising or managing junior staff or trainees
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting, tax, and financial reporting standards
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven approach
• Strong ownership mindset with a clear focus on client service excellence

• Must be based within 30km of Sandton
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential
