The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s commercial operations, ensuring profitability, contract compliance, and strategic alignment. This role combines strong commercial acumen with high-level administrative and organizational skills, ensuring that all commercial processes, documentation, and reporting are executed efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Manage client contracts, pricing structures, and negotiations
  • Monitor revenue, margins, and cost control to maximize profitability
  • Identify business growth opportunities and new revenue streams
  • Analyze market trends and provide strategic recommendations

Contract & Compliance Management

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and SLAs
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements
  • Maintain accurate contract records and documentation
  • Oversee risk assessment and mitigation related to commercial agreements

High-Level Administration

  • Manage all commercial documentation, reporting, and record-keeping systems
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all administrative processes
  • Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations
  • Coordinate internal processes across departments (Finance, Operations, Sales)
  • Maintain and improve administrative systems and workflows

Financial Oversight

  • Work closely with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Review pricing models and profitability reports
  • Monitor financial performance against targets
  • Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and revenue tracking

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
  • Act as a liaison between internal departments and external partners
  • Support negotiations and dispute resolution

Team Leadership (if applicable)

  • Lead and mentor administrative or commercial staff
  • Allocate workloads and ensure team efficiency
  • Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Contract management and compliance knowledge
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems (advantageous)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in a commercial or administrative management role
  • Proven experience in contract and financial management
  • Demonstrated high-level administrative capability

Advantageous

  • Experience in manufacturing / production environments
  • Knowledge of South African commercial regulations
  • Project management experience
