My client based in Jhb is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Business Applications to lead and govern our enterprise application landscape. This leadership role is responsible for driving the vision, performance, integration, and optimisation of business applications across the organisation, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the business applications portfolio, enabling seamless integration between enterprise systems while driving innovation, digital transformation, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a strategic technology leader with strong business acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of leading enterprise application ecosystems within highly regulated environments. You will be passionate about digital transformation, innovation, governance, and building high-performing teams that deliver measurable business value.Essential Experience

• Minimum 8–10 years' experience in software engineering and application management.
• At least 5 years' experience in Enterprise Architecture or Solution Architecture roles.
• Proven people management and leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing mobile application development and digital product delivery.
• Proven experience implementing AI/ML solutions within operational business environments.
• Extensive experience managing business applications within complex, regulated industries such as:
  • Mining
  • Healthcare
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Manufacturing

Technical Competencies

• Enterprise & Solution Architecture (TOGAF, BPMN, LeanIX, APQC)
• Application Portfolio Management and Rationalisation
• ERP Ecosystems (SAP, Oracle) and Integration Architecture
• Service Management Platforms (ServiceNow, ITIL)
• Cloud Strategy and Data Management (Power BI, Tableau, Data Lakes)
• Mobile Development Standards and Digital Product Management

Qualifications

Required

• BSc Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred

• Honours Degree or Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA – Technology Focus) or Software Engineering.

Certifications

• Digital Transformation Strategy
• TOGAF / Enterprise Architecture
• ITIL Foundation
• Agile and/or Scrum Certifications
