Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements: National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification. SAMTRAC certification is mandatory, with Wholesale & Retail Masterclass considered an advantage. NOSA Health and Safety Compliance Course certification is preferred. Project management certification is an asset. A minimum of 3 to 5 years' relevant experience working in compliance, regulatory frameworks, and within warehouse or logistics environments is required. Proven experience in quality assurance and contract management will be advantageous. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant PC applications is essential. In-depth knowledge of the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act, 85 of 1993) and associated legislation is required. A South African Matric certificate or equivalent is compulsory.

- Health and Safety Compliance Course certification (NOSA) advantageous
- 3 to 5 years' experience in health and safety compliance within warehouse or logistics environments
- Proven knowledge of South African OHS Act and related regulatory frameworks
- Experience in quality assurance and contract management
- Project management certification highly desirable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- South African Matric certificate or equivalent is essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act, 85 of 1993) and related regulations across all supply chain and logistics operations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Manage health and safety reporting, maintain training records, and deliver awareness sessions on hygiene, protective equipment, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and warehouse teams to align food safety practices with operational workflows and maintain HACCP compliance.
- Develop and manage emergency preparedness plans, including fire drills, chemical exposure responses, medical incident protocols, and pest control measures.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing safety trends, enforcing SHE procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as the Department of Labour, Municipality, and regulators to ensure updated compliance and governance.
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees to embed a high-performance, safety-first culture in line with company values.
- Maintain all statutory health and safety documentation and consolidate safety data into a centralized management system.
- Support business continuity and corporate governance initiatives related to health and safety management.
