Senior Labour Attorney
One of our clients, a well-established specialist labour law firm based in Pretoria, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Senior Labour Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert labour law services, representing clients in labour-related disputes, and managing employment law matters from consultation through to litigation.
Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree (required).
- LLM specialising in Employment or Labour Law (advantageous).
- Minimum of 5 years post-admission experience as an Attorney.
- Proven specialist experience in Employment and Labour Law.
- Extensive experience appearing in CCMA proceedings and labour-related litigation.
- Strong drafting skills relating to legal pleadings, employment contracts, disciplinary policies, and related documentation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently.
Roles and Responsibilities
Employment and Labour Law Advisory
- Provide specialist legal advice on employment and labour law matters.
- Advise clients on labour legislation, compliance requirements, and workplace best practices.
- Draft and review employment contracts, policies, procedures, and related legal documentation.
Disciplinary and Workplace Proceedings
- Chair disciplinary hearings and internal workplace enquiries.
- Advise clients on misconduct, incapacity, retrenchment, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure disciplinary procedures comply with relevant labour legislation and best practice.
CCMA Representation and Litigation
- Represent clients in CCMA conciliations, arbitrations, and related proceedings.
- Prepare and present legal arguments during labour dispute resolution processes.
- Manage litigation matters from inception through to finalisation.
Labour Court Matters
- Draft Labour Court pleadings and supporting legal documentation.
- Prepare urgent applications and other court-related submissions.
- Appear in Labour Court matters where applicable and assist with litigation strategy.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Provide regular feedback and updates on matters under management.
- Deliver professional legal services while ensuring client satisfaction and compliance with firm standards.
