Payroll Administrator

As the Payroll Administrator, you will ensure the accurate and effective administration and coordination of the payroll process. You will be responsible for the required level of governance is maintained in terms of compliance, recordkeeping and the application of remuneration policies and procedures. You will act as a key liaison to stakeholders, engaging positively and providing expert guidance and support. You will report into the Payroll Consultant.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

You will track and action payroll-related employee changes received through approved workflows. You will prepare and deliver Payroll and Benefits recons and reports, providing accurate and timely information to stakeholders. You will ensure employee payroll and benefits queries are resolved efficiently, thoroughly, and with a high standard of service. You will assist with Joiner, Mover, and Leaver activities, including new hires, internal transfers, promotions, and terminations, ensuring accurate and timely system updates. You will participate in and support the reconciliation of People and Payroll systems to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and strong governance. You will ensure employee records are maintained, retained, and securely destroyed in line with GDPR, POPIA, and other applicable data protection and employment legislation across relevant geographies.

You will act as the HRIS Champion, providing insights, user support, and feedback to the People Systems Team to support system optimization and continuous improvement. You will actively contribute to improving the end-to-end employee lifecycle, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience at all stages. You will ensure ongoing adherence to employment legislation, internal policies, and governance frameworks governing employment relationships. You will effectively manage workload and priorities, applying professionalism, compassion, tact, and sound judgement in complex or sensitive situations, and escalating issues appropriately when required. You will support internal, external, client, and regulatory audits by preparing documentation, responding to queries, and addressing findings. You will undertake additional duties as required by the line manager.

You have the required experience or qualification in your field and apply your knowledge and skills with a pragmatic approach, always considering both people and commercial impacts. You challenge the status quo and always looking for opportunities to add value, create efficiencies and positively improve business KPI’s.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 2 years HR/ Finance/ Payroll experience in the BPO or a related industry
  • You have experience using HR and Payroll information systems preferably SAGE 300
  • You have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • You have a tertiary-level qualification in HR or a related field/ or have relevant experience
  • You have experience in coordinating payroll verification processes
  • You have a solid and extensive understanding of POPIA
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders
  • You foster a collaborative approach and have a keen eye for detail
