SUMMARY

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of their busy Panel Beating Shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the complete repair process, coordinating with insurance companies and assessors, supervising workshop staff, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining profitability while delivering exceptional customer service.

POSITION INFO

Workshop Operations

  • Manage the full repair process from vehicle assessment through to final delivery.
  • Assess vehicle damages and prepare accurate repair quotations.
  • Identify and report additional damages on authorised vehicles.
  • Monitor repair progress to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to OEM repair standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain workshop facilities, equipment, and health and safety standards.

Insurance & Client Liaison

  • Liaise with clients, assessors, and insurance companies throughout the repair process.
  • Manage insurance claims procedures and ensure compliance with insurer requirements.
  • Provide regular progress updates to customers and insurance companies.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve concerns professionally and effectively.

Parts & Materials Management

  • Oversee the ordering of OEM, alternative, and green parts.
  • Conduct pricing checks and monitor parts availability.
  • Manage communication regarding back-ordered parts and delays.
  • Control paint, consumables, and workshop inventory requirements

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar leadership role within a panel beating environment.
  • Strong knowledge of panel shop operations and repair processes.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance claims procedures and assessor requirements.
  • Experience managing OEM repair standards, including Premium brand manufacturers.
  • Strong administrative, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy, including job card systems, costing software, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Valid driver's licence.
