Picker (Manual Picking)

A company based in Kya Sands (North Riding) seeking reliable and detail-oriented Pickers to join our warehouse team. The successful candidates will be responsible for manual picking of stock using picking slips, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in preparing orders for dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick stock manually according to printed picking slips
- Verify item codes, quantities, and product descriptions
- Pack picked items neatly and correctly for dispatch
- Report stock shortages, damages, or discrepancies
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the picking area
- Adhere to health and safety standards at all times
- Must understand and know the 5 Point Picking Rule by heart;
- Product description
- Product size
- Product Flavour
- Batch and Expiry if applicable
- Quality of product
- The 5 Point Picking Rule is then followed by picking the correct quantity
Requirements
- Previous experience as a picker or warehouse assistant (advantageous)
- Ability to read and understand picking slips
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, and lift items as required
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to work well in a team and meet deadlines
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a picker, warehouse assistant, or in a similar role
- Proven experience with manual picking using picking slips
- Ability to read and understand picking slips and basic stock codes
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, and lift items as required
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to work well in a team and meet daily targets
