Personal Lines Underwriter

This role requires a strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk analysis, and policy management within the short-term insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite personal lines risks in line with company guidelines and underwriting standards
• Analyse risk exposure and determine appropriate premiums, terms, and conditions
• Review new business applications, renewals, and endorsements
• Ensure underwriting decisions are compliant with regulatory and company policies
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and client information
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
• Provide technical underwriting support and guidance where required
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or potential risks
• Assist with claims queries and provide underwriting input when necessary
• Contribute to business retention and growth strategies

Key Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Personal Lines Underwriting
• Relevant insurance qualification (e.g., FAIS compliant, RE5 preferred)
• Strong knowledge of short-term insurance products and underwriting practices
• Excellent analytical and risk assessment skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and relationship management skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance systems
