Senior eCommerce Engineer (Head of Ecommerce Technology)

Our client is seeking a senior Ecommerce Engineer to take ownership of their ecommerce technology landscape and provide both technical leadership and strategic direction. This role is focused on driving ecommerce growth through scalable architecture, system integrations, and optimisation of digital platforms, while also contributing to broader business strategy.

• Lead ecommerce platform development and technical strategy across the organisation

• Drive improvements in scalability, performance, security, and reliability of ecommerce systems

• Manage WooCommerce-based platforms and associated digital infrastructure

• Develop and maintain backend services and integrations using Node.js or PHP

• Oversee API integrations with ERP, CRM, inventory, and payment systems

• Implement SEO and performance optimisation strategies to improve traffic and conversion

• Manage deployment pipelines, environments, and release processes

• Ensure data integrity across product catalogues and digital systems

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align ecommerce strategy with revenue goals

• BSc Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (non-negotiable)

• Senior-level experience in ecommerce engineering or digital commerce environments

• Strong expertise in WooCommerce and ecommerce platform architecture

• Backend development experience (Node.js, PHP, or Python)

• Strong knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue/React/Angular)

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Strong understanding of API design, system integrations, and databases

• Experience with technical SEO and optimisation strategies
