Lead and optimise daily electroplating production operations to ensure high-quality output, efficiency, safety, and cost control while supporting business expansion and new process development.

The company is an organization involved in electroplating production operations and is supporting business expansion and new process development. The business operates a factory setting that utilises rack and barrel lines, surface preparation, pre-treatment, plating, and post-treatment.

The Role: Electroplating Production Foreman

The purpose of this role is to lead and optimise daily electroplating production operations. The main focus areas include ensuring high-quality output, efficiency, safety, and cost control. The role also involves supporting business expansion and new process development.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess 5+ years of hands-on experience in electroplating production, preferably in acid zinc or similar metal finishing environments.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee all electroplating production activities including rack and barrel lines, surface preparation, pre-treatment, plating, and post-treatment.
• Manage plating bath chemistry including regular testing, additions, maintenance, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal parameters.
• Monitor and control plating thickness, uniformity, adhesion, and appearance using proper calculations.
• Supervise, train, and lead production teams across shifts while ensuring discipline, productivity, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Drive quality standards and prepare for ISO 9001 implementation and audits.
• Identify and resolve production issues such as burning, pitting, poor adhesion, hydrogen embrittlement, or defects.
• Ensure full compliance with OHSA, environmental regulations, and customer specifications.

About You

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in electroplating production, preferably in acid zinc or similar metal finishing environments.
• Proven experience managing or supervising a production team in a factory setting.
• Strong technical knowledge of electroplating processes, bath chemistry, and troubleshooting.
• Matric / Grade 12.
• Practical problem-solving under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Leadership and team management skills with a hands-on approach.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and OHSA safety requirements.
• Numeracy skills for plating calculations and process control.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to factory-based work in Nigel (Gauteng).
• Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Production Management, or related field (strong advantage).
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport (advantageous).
