SUMMARY

We are currently partnering with a global logistics and supply chain organisation seeking to appoint a high-performing Senior Business Development Manager. This is a strategic sales role suited to an experienced freight forwarding professional with a proven ability to secure new business and drive revenue growth.

Role Overview

The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business acquisition across air freight, ocean freight, customs clearing, and integrated supply chain solutions. This role is ideal for a commercially astute “hunter” who thrives in a high-performance environment and is motivated by growth, targets, and long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within freight forwarding and logistics
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned to revenue and growth targets
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and opportunities
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and solution-based sales engagements
  • Convert opportunities into profitable, long-term customer accounts
  • Drive growth across air freight, ocean freight, clearing, and supply chain solutions

Commercial Management

  • Prepare professional proposals, pricing models, and commercial solutions
  • Participate in RFQs, tenders, and contract negotiations
  • Ensure all solutions are commercially viable and aligned to profitability targets
  • Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and sales forecasting
  • Monitor revenue performance and contribute to overall business growth

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers across procurement, logistics, and supply chain functions
  • Understand customer supply chains and identify opportunities for value-added solutions
  • Maintain high levels of customer engagement to support retention and account growth
  • Act as a trusted advisor within the logistics and freight forwarding space

Market & Industry Engagement

  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments
  • Identify new sectors, trade lanes, and growth opportunities
  • Represent the business professionally in client meetings and networking environments

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in freight forwarding sales
  • Proven track record of securing new business and achieving revenue targets
  • Strong knowledge of air freight, ocean freight, customs clearing, and supply chain solutions
  • Experience working within a multinational or global logistics environment is advantageous
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a sales pipeline effectively
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
