PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To plan, lead, guide, and execute organisational change, continuous improvement, compliance to relevant, regulatory, statutory requirements, frameworks, and policies and to create effectiveness and efficiencies across all activities within the procurement cycle to secure the best possible price and quality for a product and/or service from a reputable supplier.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
  • Engineering/Supply Chain/Financial/Business Management Degree or NQF 7 equivalent is essential.
  • Engineering/Supply Chain/Financial/Business Management Honours Degree or NQF 8 equivalent is essential.
  • MCIPS Certified is essential.
  • MBA/MBL is desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years in the Supply Chain of a large Mining Organisation and being responsible for the management of the appointed strategic sourcing executive and commercial legal representative is essential.
  • Minimum 6 years a as Head of Strategic Sourcing in a large Mining Organisation is essential.
  • 2-5 years' experience in Cloud and ERP solutions is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in large procurement projects and a track record of improved efficiencies and effectiveness of a strategic nature in the procurement practices is essential.

  • Strong strategic sourcing, inclusive of contract management and supplier relationship management
  • Strong experience of legislative and statutory compliance
  • Capital procurement contracting
  • Commodity sourcing and contracting
  • Broad spectrum of supply chain, strategic sourcing, purchasing, inclusive & preferential procurement, supplier registration and information, inventory and logistics management
  • Cloud solutions/ERP systems
  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Key Performance Areas

  • Owns and formulates operational policies in alignment with group policies, frameworks, plans and executes to achieve targets.
  • Owns and formulates procurement strategies, projects, and procedures.
  • Manages the procurement budgets and ensures cost-effective procurement practices.
  • Drives appropriate relationships with key internal stakeholders with a principal objective to determine their procurement needs, requirements and enables organisational alignment to reduce bottlenecks and delaying in decision-making.
  • Drives appropriate relationships with key suppliers or contractors as well as mining industry peers with a principal objective to enable benchmarking, stays abreast of new trends and good supplier relationships.
  • Ensures compliance with procurement regulations, ethical standards and reduces risks of fraud, waste, and abuse in procurement processes.
  • Trains and supervises staff.
  • Ensures continuous improvement to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiencies of procurement, inclusive of employees, processes, and systems.
  • Secures supply and demand and complies to fair, equitable and cost-effective procurement practices.
  • Collaborates and embeds all relevant social objectives in the procurement processes.
  • Effectively reports and monitors the departmental performance according to best practice standards and ensures compliance to regulatory compliance.
  • Sponsors major strategic procurement projects.
