Coronation’s Coronation Fund Managers’ Global Institutional Business (CIB) manages relationships with institutional clients across South Africa and international markets. The Institutional Commercial & Client Solutions Manager will play a central role in supporting the commercial, client engagement and business development activities of the business.

This is a broad institutional role combining commercial strategy, mandate pricing, client solutions, relationship support and business development across both local and global markets. The successful candidate will work closely with fund managers, investment professionals, product specialists, legal, operations and product development teams to support institutional client growth and ensure commercially effective client outcomes. The role is suited to a commercially minded institutional investment professional with strong analytical capability, client engagement skills and a solid understanding of institutional investment structures, pricing and mandate frameworks.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality support and execution across institutional commercial and client solutions activities, while contributing meaningfully to institutional client engagement and relationship management. The candidate will be expected to support tender, RFP, and business development initiatives effectively, and provide accurate and timely commercial analysis, modelling, and pricing support. The role will also require positive collaboration with internal stakeholders across fund management, legal, product, and operations, while contributing to institutional business growth, client retention, and broader strategic initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Commercial & Client Solutions

  • Support the structuring and pricing of institutional mandates across South African and international markets.
  • Assist in the preparation of commercial proposals, fee schedules and mandate-related documentation.
  • Conduct commercial analysis and modelling to support client solutions, product positioning and new business opportunities.
  • Support the interpretation and application of investment management agreements (IMAs), side letters and related commercial arrangements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of pricing frameworks and commercial methodologies.

Client Engagement & Relationship Support

  • Assist with preparation for and participate in institutional client meetings, presentations, due diligence engagements and consultant interactions.
  • Support fund managers in preparing for commercial discussions with clients and consultants.
  • Respond to client and consultant queries relating to commercial terms, mandates and pricing structures.
  • Build strong working relationships with institutional clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality institutional client experience.

Business Development

  • Support institutional business development initiatives across South African and global markets.
  • Assist with tender, RFP and DDQ processes, including commercial and product-related content.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to support strategic positioning and business growth opportunities.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for new mandates, cross-selling and expansion within existing client relationships.
  • Contribute to strategic assessments relating to new markets, client segments and institutional opportunities.
  • Evaluate and support the use of data, technology and AI-enabled tools to enhance institutional business development, client engagement, market intelligence and commercial effectiveness.

Product & Strategic Commercial Support

  • Work with product development teams on institutional product pricing and commercial positioning.
  • Provide commercial input into new product launches and enhancements.
  • Support ongoing reviews of pricing competitiveness and institutional market trends.
  • Ensure consistency of commercial information across institutional client materials and documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with South African and international fund managers and broader investment teams on institutional client activity, mandate opportunities and strategic client initiatives.
  • Work with legal, operations and product teams to support mandate implementation and client onboarding.
  • Participate in internal strategy discussions relating to institutional clients, commercial opportunities and market developments.
  • Support the coordination of commercial activities across multiple regions and client segments.

Ideal Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ relevant experience within institutional asset management or related sectors.
  • Demonstrable experience within institutional investment management, asset management or related financial services environments.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (Finance, Economics, Commerce, Actuarial Science or similar).
  • Postgraduate qualification advantageous (e.g. CFA, CA(SA), actuarial qualification or relevant master’s degree).
