SUMMARY

Heavy Engineering Plant invites applications from trade tested, experienced Millwrights with heavy industry experience. KPA - To install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair both mechanical and electrical systems. Ensure smooth, safe, and efficient plant operations by minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.

Minimum Requirements

N4 + Millwright Trade Test

10+ years post trade test experience as a Millwright (Electrical/Mechanical) plant maintenance experience

Mechanical and electrical maintenance roles

Computer Literate - MS Office + SAP

Clear criminal record

Living in KZN or prepare to relocate at own cost

Own transport and Drivers License

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Commissioning
  • Assemble, align, and set up roll‑forming machinery, conveyors, gearboxes, pitch drives, and electrical control systems.
  • Work from technical drawings, schematics, and OEM documentation .
  • Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems (motors, VSDs, PLCs, sensors).
  • Diagnose faults across both domains; execute repairs promptly to resume production
  • Troubleshooting
  • Apply root‑cause analysis to mechanical failures and electrical faults; restore equipment to operational condition swiftly.
  • Adjust and recalibrate alignment or electrical settings as needed.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Strictly follow LOTO, electrical safety, and mechanical safety protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with SANS, OSHA, and local regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration & Reporting
  • Liaise with operators, electrical artisans, and engineers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts usage records, and service reports.
  • Emergency Response & Shift Work
  • Be available for breakdowns, including shifts, weekends, or short-notice call-outs

Skills & Competencies

  • Dual proficiency in mechanical systems (gears, hydraulics, conveyors) and electrical systems (motors, controls, drives).
  • Ability to read mechanical & electrical diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Competence in using precision tools: alignment lasers, multimeters, torque wrenches, etc.
  • Analytical problem-solving and strong decision-making skills.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
