Machine Sales Representative (Construction & Trucks)
Division: Construction Equipment (CASE, Dynapac, Hitachi, Shantui) & Trucks (Powerstar)
Location: Eastern Cape
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 16:30
About The Role
Seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Machine Sales Representative to join our Eastern Cape team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the sales of new construction machinery and trucks, developing and maintaining customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and providing exceptional after-sales support.
This role is ideal for an energetic sales professional with a passion for heavy equipment, construction machinery, trucks, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, and market research.
- Conduct customer visits and site assessments to identify equipment requirements.
- Promote and sell construction equipment and commercial trucks.
- Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and financing options.
- Negotiate sales agreements and close deals.
- Coordinate machine deliveries and customer handovers.
- Ensure all sales documentation is completed accurately.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to delivery and after-sales support.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers.
- Provide professional product advice and technical guidance.
- Maintain accurate customer records on CRM systems.
- Follow up on leads, quotations, and sales opportunities.
- Resolve customer queries and concerns efficiently.
Aftermarket & Product Support
- Handle parts and service enquiries.
- Promote aftermarket products and services.
- Generate aftermarket sales opportunities.
- Coordinate service and maintenance requirements with relevant departments.
Marketing & Brand Promotion
- Assist with creating marketing content, customer success stories, and machine handover content.
- Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, demonstrations, and industry events.
- Support industry association activities and networking opportunities.
- Participate in customer entertainment and relationship-building initiatives.
Asset Register Management
- Create, maintain, and update machine schedules.
- Monitor and manage machine inventory records.
- Ensure all equipment information remains current and accurate.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain up-to-date CRM records.
- Submit weekly call reports and activity reports.
- Prepare monthly sales reports and pipeline updates.
- Track units sold, lost opportunities, and future prospects.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and reporting standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant technical qualification advantageous
- Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, or related qualification advantageous
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' sales experience in machinery, trucks, commercial vehicles, construction equipment, agriculture equipment, mining equipment, or related industries.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Experience in customer relationship management.
- Exposure to the construction or transport industry will be advantageous.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong sales and negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage with decision-makers and business owners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation and demonstration abilities.
- Good administrative and planning skills.
- Technical understanding of construction equipment and trucks.
- Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- CRM system experience.
Licences
- Valid Code 8 Driver's Licence (essential).
- Forklift licence advantageous.
