Role Overview
This role supports the Fibre Planning Team by coordinating wayleave applications, maintaining planning and GIS records, and assisting with network planning and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and respond to wayleave enquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare, update, and maintain wayleave application records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of planning maps, drawings, and submission packs.
- Support the Fibre Planning Team with planning-related administrative and operational activities.
- Create and maintain GIS datasets, maps, and spatial records using GIS software.
- Capture, validate, and maintain network planning data with a high degree of accuracy.
- Assist with network construction planning workflows and related planning activities.
- Perform quality assurance checks on planning, GIS, and network records.
- Maintain accurate records of planning decisions, approvals, and network changes.
- Support the management and tracking of planning and wayleave workflows from initiation to completion.
- Liaise with municipalities, consultants, contractors, and internal departments as required.
- Generate maps, reports, and planning information for internal stakeholders.
- Assist with data analysis and reporting to support planning and business decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning, GIS, and wayleave processes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and documentation.
- Support the implementation and adoption of GIS-driven workflows within the planning environment.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and record-keeping requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Planning Coordinator, Fibre Planning Team Lead, and GIS team to support departmental objectives.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc planning assignments as required.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Tertiary qualification in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Social Science Data Science or a related field.
- Familiar with GIS platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Highly organised with good record-keeping practices.
- Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technical skills.
- Positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Interest in GIS, telecommunications infrastructure, and fibre network planning.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- GIS experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Comfortable working in office as well as on site.
- Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to various site as required.
