As Head of Maersk Project Logistics (MPL), you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all MPL service delivery, operational performance, procurement synergies, product development and execution of the regional strategy in the Southern Africa & Islands (SAI) Area. This role is a critical stakeholder to the overall operational and financial performance of the MPL product in line with the regional business plan and growth ambitions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute the MPL procurement strategy and roll-out global initiatives and strategy
  • Implement MPL sub-products in the area
  • Activating Sales teams towards the increase of the pipeline and achieving joint actions for closing project deals.
  • Plan and implement appropriate resources at local level (staffing, training, equipment, and systems) to ensure contractual compliance and delivery of quality services that meet and exceed the customer expectations.
  • Provide MPL local operations and Product team with daily guidance, leadership and overall support on any issues relating to operations, communication, revenue enhancement, human resources, procedure standardization, systems applications, process execution, Procurement strategy, go-to-market and pricing strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers to ensure efficient operations according to customer requirements.
  • Develop continuous improvement methodology in key areas of service profit and growth aligned with the operations team.
  • Develop customer relationships and ensure that customer service and local operations service levels are maintained.
  • Oversee and manage the professional development and productivity of direct reports to ensure proper goals, training, professional development and project requirements are met.
  • Promote the MPL product internally with main stakeholders.
  • Financial report preparation for P&L metrics.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • At least 10 years’ commercial and operational experience with a focus on project cargo/break bulk/OOG cargo in freight forwarding, supply chain or logistics environments
  • Relevant experience with project cargo procurement processes
  • Knowledge of the local Southern African market
  • Good interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Result oriented, self-starter, well-structured professional.
  • Proficient in English – written and verbal
  • Comprehensive insight into global supply chain development
