Our client, a growing and well-established audit and accounting practice based in Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced and technically strong Audit Manager to join their Assurance Division. This opportunity is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys managing multiple audit engagements, leading high-performing teams, and building strong client relationships. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering quality assurance services, ensuring regulatory compliance, mentoring audit staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

• Managing audit, independent review, and assurance engagements from planning through to completion

• Reviewing audit files, working papers, annual financial statements, and supporting documentation

• Ensuring compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), IFRS for SMEs, the Companies Act, and firm quality standards

• Identifying audit risks and developing appropriate audit strategies and procedures

• Managing engagement budgets, timelines, resource allocation, and profitability

• Resolving complex accounting, audit, and financial reporting matters

• Preparing and reviewing management reports and client communications

• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout engagements

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships while providing practical accounting and audit guidance

• Supervising, mentoring, and developing audit trainees and supervisors

• Reviewing staff performance and providing ongoing coaching and technical support

• Reviewing and approving SAICA trainee assessments and competencies on the SAICA E.A.T. system

• Monitoring engagement progress and proactively addressing challenges or delays

• Assisting with internal quality reviews, file monitoring, and compliance processes

• Supporting audit methodology improvements and operational efficiencies

• Assisting partners with business development initiatives where appropriate

• Completed SAICA Articles (essential)

• CA(SA) designation advantageous but not essential

• Minimum 2 years' experience as an Audit Supervisor or Audit Manager within a small-to-medium-sized audit practice

• Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, International Standards on Auditing (ISA), the Companies Act, and the Income Tax Act

• Proven experience managing audit engagements independently from planning to completion

• Experience supervising, reviewing, and developing audit staff

• Proficiency in CaseWare Working Papers, CaseWare Cloud, and Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management abilities

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• High attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Must be based in Johannesburg or willing to relocate
