AI Engineer

Job Purpose

The Mid-Level AI Engineer delivers secure, scalable, and production-ready AI and machine learning solutions. This role builds models, pipelines, components, and tooling aligned to Hollard’s engineering, security, and governance standards. The AI Engineer is responsible for building AI agents, applying inference-driven approaches to create innovative business solutions, and using agentic development workflows to design and deliver intelligent applications. The role operates with increasing independence and acts as the bridge between junior delivery and senior technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

AI Solution Engineering

• Using Large Language Models to build out innovative solutions – either for inference or Agentic AI Solutions.
• Develop reusable, well-documented engineering assets including scripts, components, and APIs.
• Implement testing, monitoring, evaluation, versioning, and governance patterns.

AI Agents & Agentic Systems

• Build and maintain AI agents using Microsoft AI Agent Services and Azure OpenAI.
• Implement agent capabilities such as planning, memory, tool invocation, and RAG.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of MCP servers and MCP tools.
• Participate in orchestration of multi-agent or multi-tool interactions.
• Ensure agents are secure, observable, maintainable, and production-ready.

Architecture, Platform & Policy Alignment

• Apply enterprise architecture principles and AI platform standards.
• Ensure development follows Hollard’s security, development, and compliance policies.
• Contribute to improvements in shared engineering toolchains and accelerators.
• Align with cloud, data, platform, and integration architectures.

API Exposure & Integration Layer

• Expose AI capabilities and agent functions through RESTful APIs.
• Design versioned API interfaces using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Integrate with enterprise systems via APIs, events, microservices, and messaging patterns.

User Interaction & UI Enablement

• Contribute to lightweight front-end applications for interacting with AI agents.
• Assist in building chat-based, form-based, or task-oriented UIs using approved web technologies.

Responsible, Secure & Compliant AI

• Produce model documentation, fairness checks, explainability components, and security artefacts.
• Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory, and AI risk requirements.

Business Value Contribution

• Translate technical designs into efficient, scalable production solutions.
• Identify improvements that accelerate delivery or optimise performance and cost.
