Duties & Responsibilities

Tracking, Investigating, and Recoveries

  • Responsible for the efficient administration of reefer cargo claims.
  • Analyse claim submissions, temperature records, survey reports, and supporting documents to assess liability in accordance with MSC Bill of Lading terms, internal policies, and applicable international conventions (e.g., COGSA, Hague-Visby Rules, Hamburg Rules).
  • Coordinate with customs authorities to ensure all formalities and requirements are satisfied.
  • Ensure cost recovery associated where possible.

Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Prepare statistical data and key performance indicators (KPIs) for reporting purposes.
  • Handle general legal enquiries and assist with non-cargo–related claims, administrative legal processes, and recovery actions against liable third parties.

Dispute Resolution

  • Engage with external legal counsel as instructed and provide support in the preparation of litigation, arbitration, or recovery documentation.
  • Collaborate with senior legal advisors and contribute to fact gathering, document collation, and file preparation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Min Requirements

  • Shipping, supply chain as well as experience with abandoned cargo and Customs and Excise
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB).
  • Strong understanding of import and export regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
