What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and talented Junior Lab Analyst who can ensure compliance with lab protocols, manage data integrity, and contribute to continuous improvement.

What do we expect from the candidate?

We expect a Junior Lab Analyst candidate to demonstrate strong technical proficiency in laboratory procedures, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate should be capable of accurately conducting tests, analyzing data, and maintaining detailed records. Additionally, they should possess problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to adapt to evolving laboratory technologies and protocols.

The key responsibilities

General and administrative management

  • Responsible for ensuring correct receipt and registration of test items.

  • Ensure proper housekeeping is maintained in the laboratories and offices.

  • Any other duties and responsibilities as given by the Laboratory Manager / Technical Managers.

Management system

  • Ensure correct completion of all documents and records that form part of the Quality Management System to affect full traceability of testing activities.

  • Continuous improvement of the quality management system and laboratory processes.

Technical duties

  • Recording data accurately, promptly and in compliance with ISO17525:2017 and taking responsibility of the quality of the data generated.

  • Prioritising projects and studies by integrating and co-ordinating operations to provide a comprehensive service to all customers.

  • Share information and work cooperatively with others to obtain company objectives.

  • Ensure that test and reference items are appropriately characterized, stored and disposed of.

  • Be knowledgeable of the technical procedures for the duties you will be performing.

Assessment by external bodies

  • Participate and assist with assessment by external bodies to evaluate the quality management system.

Equipment management

  • Timely maintenance, verification, and calibration of analytical instrumentation to ensure continued operations in the laboratory.

  • Reporting any equipment issues to the Laboratory Manager or Technical Managers.

Proficiency testing

  • Participate in routine PT/ILC to demonstrate ongoing technical competence.

If you possess…

Must-Have

  • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.

  • Sound knowledge of analytical chemistry.

  • Knowledge/experience with ISO17025:2017.

  • Experience in the field of chemical analysis, and the use of emission spectroscopy. instrumental, especially ICP-OES.

  • Knowledge/experience with sample preparation using microwave digestion.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain composed and maintain high levels of productivity in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Maintain equipment and perform verification procedures.

  • Effective time management skills.

  • Adherence to the laboratory’s Quality Management System.

  • Adherence to Health and Safety procedures
